Drug Arrest (Archer)

On March 24, 2022 the Mississippi County Sheriff's Departments Street Crimes Unit and the Sheriff's Drug Task Force were conducting an investigation into large sales of methamphetamine in the Manila area.  While in Manila, Deputies observed a white Chevy Captiva driving erratic on highway 18.  Deputies pulled over the vehicle next to the Manila carwash.  As Deputies approached the vehicle, they observed Daniel Archer look out the driver's side window and he immediately pulled off fleeing Deputies.  Deputies pursued Mr. Archer as he reached speeds over 100 mph.  During the pursuit Deputies observed Mr. Archer throw a black bag out of the driver's side window which struck one of the pursuing units.  A Deputy following the pursuit stopped and stayed with the black bag.  Deputies were finally able to get Mr. Archer to stop just passed the 18/181 intersection.  Mr. Archer was placed into custody.  During a search of the vehicle Deputies observed methamphetamine residue in the driver's seat.  Deputies located a black bag laying on the center console containing 91 suspected hydrocodone pills, 28.6 grams of marijuana, 2 grams of methamphetamine, one set of digital scales, plastic baggies, 2 glass pipes used for smoking methamphetamine and 2 torch lighters.  After clearing the vehicle Deputies went back to the location where the black bag was thrown out.  One of the plastic vacuumed sealed bags had busted and methamphetamine was scattered in the roadway.  Deputies gathered 8.5 ounces of loose methamphetamine from the roadway and found another 8.3 ounces inside the bag.  A total of approximately 17.1 ounces was seized.  The Sheriff's Department would like to thank the Dell Fire Department for assisting in helping cleanup of the roadway.   

Daniel Archer (44 years old) was transported to the Mississippi County Detention Center and charged with the following;

Trafficking of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine)

Possession of a Controlled Substance with Purpose to Deliver (hydrocodone)

Possession of Marijuana

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Felony Fleeing

Tampering with Physical Evidence

Driving left of Center

Speeding 120/60

Mr. Archer was issued a $80,000 bond by Judge Shannon Langston
