Suspect Apprehended

                On 10/07/2021 the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department received a 911 call from the 1800 block of East County Road 214 outside Blytheville. The female caller stated that her ex-boyfriend, Zachary Purrington, was holding her grandfather at gunpoint. Upon arrival deputies searched the area but was unable locate Purrington. The caller told deputies that she had ended a relationship with Purrington earlier in the day and left town. The caller stated when she returned home she found that Purrington had forced entry into her home. The caller stated Purrington came out of her bathroom with a gun and held her at gunpoint telling her he was going to kill her. The caller stated she was able to call her grandfather who lives on the same property and he walked over to the house to find Purrington holding the caller at gunpoint. Once the grandfather walked into the house the caller was able to escape and call 911. The victims told deputies that Purrington fled the area on foot once deputies were close to the area. Purrington was later taken into custody in Jonesboro by the Jonesboro Police Department.

 

                Zarchary Purrington of Blytheville has been charged with Aggravated Residential Burglary, Kidnapping, Terroristic Threatening 1st Degree, and two counts of Aggravated Assault. Purrington's bond has been set at $250,000 cash only.
