Illegal Gaming Machines

On November 23, 2020 the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department and Sheriff's Street Crimes Unit along with the Luxora Police Department, Etowah Police Department, Gosnell Police Department, Manila Police Department and Leachville Police Department executed multiple Search & Seizure warrants on local businesses.  The warrants authorized Officers to seize illegal gaming machines, U.S. currency found inside the machines, monies derived from illegal gambling proceeds and documents showing proof of illegal gambling and cash payouts.  Deputies seized 38 electronic gaming machines, $9790.00 in U.S. currency and documents along with receipts showing cash payouts.  The Sheriff's Street Crimes Unit conducted a three-month investigation into the illegal gaming machines.  During the investigation undercover Street Crimes Unit Deputies conducted several covert operations inside these businesses.  The warrants were executed on the following locations; Bassett Shamrock, Dyess Grocery, Etowah 3 Way Food Mart, Gosnell Smokers Cloud and Valero Gas Station, Manila Tobacco Store, Leachville Corner Mart and Luxora Quickstop.  This investigation is ongoing and arrest warrants are pending.
