On Thursday October 8th 2020, at approximately 6:15 p.m. the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office received a call of several vehicles drag racing on East Highway 148 in the Clearlake Community.  Upon their arrival Deputies observed numerous sports cars parked at the intersection of Highway 151 and East Highway 148.  As Deputies arrived several of the vehicles fled the area.  Deputies pursued a yellow Dodge Challenger at a high rate of speed as it turned west onto West County Road 246.  The Challenger then turned onto North County Road 775 where it ran into a soybean field.  Deputies made contact with the driver, Shyheim Carter and the passenger, Terrance Jackson.  Both subjects were arrested.  Deputies found a baggie containing 61 Oxycodone and 7 hydrocodone pills next to the vehicle. Deputies contacted Arkansas Game and Fish Officer Dustin Hourt to bring out his K9 to search the area.  The K9 located a loaded Glock 9mm handgun with an extended magazine containing 18 rounds in the soybean field within a few feet of the vehicle.  Deputies also found a large amount of U.S. currency on Mr. Carter's person.  Both Mr. Carter and Mr. Jackson had active felony Failure to Appear warrants out of Blytheville Circuit Court.  Both Carter and Jackson were arrested and transported to the Mississippi County Detention Center.

Shyheim Carter (25 years old) was charged with the following;

Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Purpose to Deliver

Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and a Firearm

Fleeing

Reckless Driving

Driving on Suspended Driver's License

Felony FTA

Terrance Jackson (28 years old) was charged with the following;

Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Purpose to Deliver

Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and a Firearm

Felony FTA

Temp bond was set at $35,000.00 on Mr. Carter and $25,000.00 on Mr. Jackson by the Honorable District Judge Shannon Langston.  Both Carter and Jackson are set to appear in District court on Monday.
