It’s National Youth Violence Prevention Week!

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Department challenges you to participate in National Youth Violence Prevention Week.  Founded in 2001, its goal is to educate communities about ways to prevent and/or reduce youth violence.

Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE) formed in 1989, and made preventing youth violence their mission when Alex Orange, a student in Charlotte, North Carolina, was killed while trying to break up a fight.  Today, this organization serves 48 states and several foreign countries.  They’ve earned numerous awards for their community efforts and continue to raise awareness and inspire others to stop the cycle of violence.
